About

Mary Frembgen currently lives in Brooklyn NY and is in love with its energy and colors. She grew up in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and then left for Denver at 18 to attend art school. She dropped out of a graphics art college after 10 weeks, and found "The Rocky Mountain School of Art", which gave her a formal well rounded art education. During her 17 years in Denver, Mary played in a Punk Rock band,  dabbled in graffiti, created and sold art , and earned her Bachelors Degree in Art with an emphasis in Art History.

As a single parent, Mary worked full time while managing to continue to make a name for herself in Denver's art scene, until e she had to give up her art studio to save money. Once her daughter turned 12, they moved to Baltimore. Mary took a job over the phone before she had ever seen Baltimore. The dirty old eastern city was scary and exciting, and she related to the urban atmosphere.

Moving to Brooklyn in 2000, Mary is constantly amazed at urban life, and the beauty of a city. While continuing a 20 year career in tourism, Mary has found new focus and passion for her art. Mary's current work are a set of Monoprints created during the autumn in 2011. The new works were shown in the East Village on NYC at Pie. One piece was shown in the Members show at "3rd Ward" in Brooklyn.  She will continue to work in printmaking, painting and drawing.
